December Event: Ya Gotta Be A Dolphin

Hello passengers! We plan to sail on out of this hellish year as it comes to a close. That means there’s no mod-run plot this month, just a chill underwater vacay for y’all to enjoy. But more on that later - first up, we have a few housekeeping items:

1. Please also make sure you have filled out pairing info! New pairings will be made for December and January, and if you don’t have information available, you may not be paired, or you may be assigned at random.

2. Please check out the above-linked pairing info, chat with your fellow players, and decide on whether you’d like to try out an arranged temporary pairing. Once you’ve got that hammered out, please make your requests below no later than Friday, Dec. 4, at midnight CT. Pairing info and a mingle log will be posted on Dec. 6. If you wish to be randomized, please make a note of that. If you do not respond, you will be randomized at mod whim.

3. Here’s your reminder to fill out your activity check! This needs to be done no later than midnight CT on Saturday, Dec. 5.

Now, onward to the schedule of events!

As mentioned above, we’ll have a general mingle log for the first part of the month, from Dec. 6-19. Meet your new partners, get to know the newer folks a little better, maybe discuss (or repress) all that weirdness y’all experienced from the shared dreaming - like that dream about being part of a city, perhaps? Go wild!

As for the second part of the month … hope y’all like swimming!

From Dec. 19 through January 2, we’ll be visiting the planet Umora and its capital, Kupra City. Fun fact about Umora: its surface is 90% water! Luckily for the more terrestrial types, the planet’s inhabitants built most of their cities in sprawling domed underwater structures connected by motorized pipes and tunnels - oxygenated, of course.

Tourism is a big part of what keeps the Kupra City gears turning, so you’ll find plenty of welcoming activities waiting for you to enjoy. Take in the underwater sights in one of the city’s many observation domes! Rent a frog suit and go for a long, relaxing swim - just watch out for the swarms of electrified jellyfish and fields of lava plants! You can even sign up to go on guided treasure-hunting expeditions, if you’re feeling more adventurous.

Inside the city proper, the various markets take up an entire district, so be sure to take advantage of the time here to shop and stock up. Technology in Kupra City is a little more advanced than on previously visited planets - think BioShock-flavor steampunk - so visitors can find goods in that approximate genre of aesthetic and function. Day laborers in the hydroponic gardens are always welcome to help with care and harvesting of food stores as well.

Once again, Navi will provide Navigems upon arrival to Kupra City, and these gems can be exchanged at the Market District for Universal Credits, the universal payment method of the universe. The number of gems and credits you receive is unimportant and will be fuzzywaved - the bottom line is that you will have enough credits to purchase a REASONABLE stockpile of foods, toiletries, etc. for the voyage going forward. Every character can also request TWO specialty items in the comments below that can be acquired at the Market District, keeping the setting in mind for available tech. If you’re unsure if something you want qualifies, just ask! You’ll have this opportunity for item requests at every planet stop, so don’t fret too hard over what to pick, because you’ll always have another chance. Please make all item requests by Jan. 2, when Navi takes off.
