look at this stuff - isn't it neat?
Hello, passengers! And welcome to the final event of 2022. We hope you enjoy what we have in store for you during the final weeks of this year. Read on for details!
On Saturday, Dec. 3, Navi will dock on the planet Linzi’iri, near the seaside resort town of Bruzoria. This quaint vacation spot boasts a long beach season that ends with a week of celebration honoring the region’s patron deity, a giant starfish-like creature called Ipliopron.
Bruzorian history recounts that many generations ago, the town was besieged by an evil spirit, and Ipliopron, moved by the cries of lamentation from the townspeople, arose out of the sea to banish the spirit by harnessing the magic of primordial chaos. Ipliopron then took up residence in a sacred tidal pool and lived with the Bruzorians for a time, imparting divine wisdom and healing the sick with the pool’s restorative waters. Ipliopron later returned to the sea, but the Temple of the Secret Waters was erected near the tidal pool to caretake the sacred site until Ipliopron’s promised return, to pass on Ipliopron’s divine wisdom, and to administer the healing waters to all who sought its relief.
The Saints of the Secret Waters host the week-long Festival of Ipliopron at the formal close of the beach season each year, a celebration of the town’s salvation by Ipliopron and the deity’s promised return. The festival is marked with music and singing, re-enactment plays of Ipliopron’s legend, a parade throughout the town, a blessing ceremony at the sacred tidal pool, and gift-giving. Navi and crew will arrive shortly before the festival week and will remain throughout the conclusion, so there will be plenty of opportunity to partake in the holiday activities.
Other than the festival, the town has plenty to offer vacationers: beaches and boating as far as the eye can see; a museum of the town’s history and Ipliopron’s lore; a shopping district where townspeople sell enchanted artwork, sea glass creations, and freshly baked goods. One of the most popular attractions in the town is the Secret Waters Cafe, located adjacent to the Temple and operated by the Saints.
The story goes that Ipliopron instructed the first generation of Saints in the ways of primordial chaos magic, which have been passed down the line of Saints in secret ceremonies right to the present day. There is no charge for access to the healing waters, only a donation is suggested, so the Temple relies on the cafe’s proceeds for upkeep of the Temple and for providing the Saints’ living expenses. The thing that makes the cafe a unique and popular draw for the town is that the Saints enchant every beverage sold. The drink menu runs the gamut from healing herbal tea to love potion lattes, but the best-seller is the Transformation Tonic, a drink that promises a transcendental meditation experience by transforming the drinker into a mer-creature capable of communing with the sea. The tonic’s transformation lasts about three hours, and the effects are known to leave those who partake with an unmatched sense of tranquility. Try one and you’ll be certain to return for more!
Linzi’iri will be our final stop for the year, so the event will run until January. Happy fishing!
