may/june event: stop hitting yourself

Hello, passengers! We’ll try to keep this short and sweet, because you know what?

First, a few quick reminders and housekeeping miscellanea!

- Please remember to check in to AC for April no later than Wednesday, May 5! If you make me sweep your character, they can’t have a new partner pairing, and that’s a sad thing.

- Speaking of partner pairings and a May 5 deadline - if you would like to request a pairing for the next couple of months, please make sure to leave a comment below. Also, to note: if you’ve found a good pairing, you can definitely request to be permanently paired. If you’re still looking for that perfect match, that’s fine too! Otherwise, y’all gonna get paired randomly, according to my whims (evil laugh).

3. If you plan to claim your free specialty items from Hama Vorcia, make sure to do so by May 5 as well.

There are a couple of neat player plots on offer at the moment, so do check those out! And in order to avoid going too hard on top of those player plots, we’re gonna take it a bit easy for the month of May.

On May 6, new partners will be paired, and we’ll have the usual mingle log for meeting your new brainmate. Things on board Navi will be about as quiet as they normally are until May 23, when things get a little bit wacky.

Remember that pesky nebular cloud that caused the shared dreams? Navi will travel through another, larger cloud this time, and their passengers can experience a similar glyph glitch this month. Beginning on May 23 and running through June 12, passengers will have the option of being under the influence of one of two effects (or both, if you're a complete sadist). Passengers with superpowers, magical abilities, etc., may experience a loss of control over those powers, as well as increased and/or unintended effects. For example, if your character is a spellcaster, they may not be able to control when their spells go off, or the result may be different than what was intended, or it may misfire entirely. If your character possesses enhanced strength or speed, they may suddenly find themselves too swol to handle ordinary objects without crushing them, or they may have uncontrollable zooms and be physically unable to slow their roll.

But what about those characters without superpowers? We don't want anyone to feel left out, so there will also be an option to deprive your characters of one or more of their natural senses, i.e., sight, hearing, smell, taste, etc. Have fun being suddenly and temporarily blind! Walk into walls, eat trash, be free.

Both effects can be as intermittent or long-lasting throughout the affected time period as players prefer, and may switch around for maximum confusion. For example, one day you can be temporarily deaf, and the next you can choose to be stuck constantly casting Burning Hands.

For bonus fun, Navi may also be subject to these effects! During this time, power and lights on the ships may flicker or go out, drones may aimlessly roam the ship like feral raccoons, and glyphlink communication may be down for periods of time. Enjoy!

Note: If your character's haywire powers are likely to cause mild/moderate damage to the ships themselves, that's probably fine, as the drones on both ships will be around to repair damages, but please talk it over with us first in the comments below so we have an idea of what to expect.
